Meet Shannon
Shannon was introduced to Schutzhund, a European canine sport that tests a dog’s tracking, obedience, and protection skills. Shannon learned how to train dogs using this method, under the tutelage of 1988 World Schutzhund Champion Gene England, owner of the renowned Advanced Canine Academy in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
While continuing to work with world-class trainers, Shannon competed and titled at local, regional, national, and international levels for 10 years, winning the 2003 European Championship in Diest, Belgium.

Shannon founded Northwest Battle Buddies in 2012 after experiencing firsthand the healing and hope which can come from the partnership between a combat veteran with PTSD and a trained service dog. Herself the daughter of Korean war veteran, Shannon’s goal is battling PTSD, to provide a life-saving gift and say thank you for her freedom.
There is no cure for PTSD, but service dogs can reduce PTSD symptoms with life-changing — results. With a canine Battle Buddy by their side, Veterans with PTSD can regain their freedom and independence.
All of the service dogs spend 5+ months in intensive training, then are carefully matched with a Veteran handler for five more weeks of training and bonding, creating the ultimate partnership.
